In Vivo Evaluation of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy for collagenase Induced Suspensory Ligament Desmitis

چکیده
Extracorporeal shock wave therapy improved the rate of healing of collagenase-induced suspensory ligament desmitis in horses, as measured by ultrasonographic imaging. Extracorporeal shock wave therapy resulted in a statistically significant decrease in lesion area and improved fiber alignment and echogenicity of the ligament in treated ligaments when compared with control ligaments. Radial Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy for Chronic Insertion Desmopathy of the Proximal Suspensory Ligament
In human medicine, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is an established therapeutic procedure for treatment of renal calculi. In the last few years extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) also has been used in human orthopedic treatment, especially chronic insertion tendopathy/desmitis such as “tennis elbow,” tendinosis calcarea, and pseudarthrosis. In the veterinary field, the use of ESWT ...
متن کاملShort term analgesic effect of extracorporeal shock wave therapy in horses with proximal palmar metacarpal/plantar metatarsal pain.
Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) is an accepted form of treatment for chronic cases of proximal suspensory desmitis (PSD). Subjective evaluation of horses shortly after being treated with ESWT has led clinicians to comment on an immediate reduction in lameness. This study aimed to evaluate the analgesic effect of ESWT on 16 horses with PSD or PSD-like pain in a fore- or hindlimb. To obj...
متن کاملA prospective evaluation of the effect of extracorporeal shock wave therapy on patellar ligament desmitis following tibial plateau leveling osteotomy
Introduction: Inflammation of the patellar ligament has been reported as a common complication following the tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) procedure. This inflammation of the patellar ligament can range from asymptomatic radiographic thickening to clinical desmitis. Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) is a relatively new treatment for various musculoskeletal conditions, includin...
متن کاملThe Effect of Combination of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy and Muscle Energy Technique on Active Trigger Points of Upper Trapezius Muscle
Objective: to demonstrate the effectiveness of combination of radial extracorporeal shock wave therapy and muscle energy technique on pain, range of motion, and neck function of the individuals with active trigger points of upper trapezius muscle. Method: Fifty-four (54) participants with active TrPs of upper trapezius muscle were participated and randomly divided into three groups. Group A (...
متن کاملExtracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy for Coronary Artery Disease: Relationship of Symptom Amelioration and Ischemia Improvement
Objective(s): The current management of coronary artery disease (CAD) relies on three major therapeutic options, namely medication, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). However, severe CAD that is not indicated for PCI or CABG still bears a poor prognosis due to the lack of effective treatments. In 2006, extracorporeal cardiac shock wave (SW) the...
